Reality TV World Message Board Forums
PLEASE NOTE: The Reality TV World Message Boards are filled with desperate attention-seekers pretending to be one big happy PG/PG13-rated family. Don't be fooled. Trying to get everyone to agree with you is like herding cats, but intolerance for other viewpoints is NOT welcome and respect for other posters IS required at all times. Jump in and play, and you'll soon find out how easy it is to fit in, but save your drama for your mama. All members are encouraged to read the complete guidelines. As entertainment critic Roger Ebert once said, "If you disagree with something I write, tell me so, argue with me, correct me--but don't tell me to shut up. That's not the American way."

"RealityTVWorld Community Guidelines"
RealityTVWorld.com COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

The RealityTVWorld.com message board community adminstrative team encourages everyone to participate in and enjoy the community through the following guidelines. Violation of these guidelines could lead to the loss of your community membership and privileges.

I. PLEASE WELCOME NEW MEMBERS
When new members arrive, please welcome them to our growing community. New members are not "newbies" to be teased. All of you were new members once. Treat newcomers the way that you wanted to be treated when you joined. We know that many of our community's "elders" (regardless of age) are full of helpful information and have much to share. Please help newcomers learn how things are done, how to find information, how to save time, and how to get involved in the community.

II. DO NOT ATTACK OTHER MEMBERS
Personal attacks on other members will not be tolerated. Challenging the points of view and the opinions of other members is permitted, but only as long as you can do so respectfully and thoughtfully, without personal attack or insult. If you cannot be tolerant of others' beliefs and opinions, then please avoid introducing, reading or participating in topics that lead to such discussions.

III. KEEP YOUR POSTINGS CLEAN
There are probably websites where explicit, obscene or vulgar language, graphics or behavior is permitted or even appropriate. The RealityTVWorld.com community is not one of them. Anything not appropriate for a PG/PG-13 context will not be welcomed on this site. Message board postings that contain explicit, obscene, vulgar or "adult" language or graphics or that are likely to lead to discussions in bad taste will be removed. We also do not allow links to "adult," pornographic, warez, or hates sites of any kind.

IV. AVOID DUPLICATE POSTS
Do not post the same discussion more than once on a discussion forum or on multiple forums. Weeding through duplicate discussions can be frustrating and annoying for other members, especially for those whose time and energy is limited. Duplicate discussions will be deleted. Reposting the same message repeatedly will be interpreted as SPAM.

V. DO NOT SPAM OR ADVERTISE HERE
Advertising or spamming of any kind is not tolerated and will likely result in the immediate loss of your RealityTVWorld.com community membership. IF you wish to advertise or promote your products or services, paid sponsorship and advertising opportunties are available; please see our advertising information page for more information.

VI. KEEP PERSONAL INFORMATION PERSONAL
Before you post or speak, consider whether you really want to put your address or telephone number on a public discussion forum or to share it during a live chat. Although a number of our members feel comfortable sharing a great deal of personal information with each other, we encourage you to keep personal information personal and to not ask for personal information from others. Information that should be considered personal includes but is not limited to your email address, home phone number, name, age, or photos. If you wish to give this out for any reason, please think carefully before doing so. Discussion forum posts that request members to submit personal information directly to another party will be removed.

VII. DO NOT POST UNDER MULTIPLE NAMES
(a) Some communities do not mind if you post under many different screen names. However, we believe this practice to be inherently deceptive. We do not believe that members should be able to distance themselves from their actions or to feign interactions and discussions by their use of "ghosts." Therefore, we do not permit members to create or use multiple screen names.

(b) In some instances, you may regiater a second name with the express permission of the Webmaster. Such IDs are typically reserved for specific uses only, and the users of such IDs must be common knowledge. Previous examples have included (among others) "not shakes" (used by "shakes the clown" to parody himself) and "Criminals" (used only for posting works from the literary site "Criminals From the Neck Up").

VIII. DO NOT REPUBLISH COPYRIGHTED INFORMATION
(a) You should NOT post information that is copyrighted or owned by any individual or entity other than you on the discussion or news forums without the express consent of the owner. Reposting is copyright infringement even if you attribute the article correctly to its source. The test for copyright infringement is not whether you are trying to make any money from the work; instead, what matters is whether you hurt the potential income of the copyright holder. By reposting an article, you would be depriving the copyright holder of advertising revenue, so you cannot do it. If such a posting occurs, the member posting the information will be held solely responsible. RealityTVWorld.com is not responsible for member-posted information that may violate copyright law.

(b) There is a limited exception to this strict copyright rule, however. Under "Fair Use" provisions, you can legally post an abstract - or perhaps the opening paragraph or a brief excerpt - of an article. Therefore, if you want to post an article, you should either do this and include a link, or just post the link. If you are not sure whether you can copy something, then please err on the side of caution and simply post a link to the material.

(c) Press releases are not covered by the limits on reposting. Press releases are intended for wide distribution and thus can be copied, reposted and distributed as much as you want.

IX. FOLLOW THE SIGNATURE STANDARD
Each RealityTVWorld.com member has the ability to display a signature. The entire signature should be limited to a height of 60 pixels. This limitation helps keep the threads somewhat tidy and filled more with content than with sig pics. (Frankly, there's not much worse than a reply consisting of one line of text followed by 20 lines of signature.)

Your signature may take one of the following forms:

  • No more than four lines of regularly sized text
  • No more than six lines of text, with font size "1" (Check the Help Forum for an explanation of how to change the font size)
  • A graphic not to exceed a height of 60 pixels or width of 500 pixels, followed by an optional single line of text (either regular size, or size "1", but NO LARGER)

If you choose to post a graphic in your signature, please limit the file size to 20 kb in order to reduce the time that it takes to load each page.

X. HELP PREVENT FOREST FIRES
RealityTVWorld.com promises to act with appreciation for our members. We will willingly listen to your suggestions and complaints, and we will try to incorporate your ideas into our actions. However, we also need you to consider the consequences of your actions. Before you submit a post, think about whether you would want it on your own site. In addition, if you see a post that seems objectionable to you, please notify the RealityTVWorld.com staff at once by clicking the 'Alert' link found in the lower left corner of the objectionable post. If a post or a thread has been locked or deleted, reposting any content from that post or thread without permission from a member of the administrative staff will likely result in the termination of your RealityTVWorld.com membership.

XI. KEEP "SPOILERS" IN THE SPOILERS FORUMS... OR OTHERWISE CLEARLY MARKED
Much of the discussion in this community revolves around "spoilers" -- known upcoming events in one of the TV shows that the discussion forums follow. However, some of the members of the RealityTVWorld.com community prefer to enjoy these shows without knowing about the upcoming events until they are broadcast. Therefore, for certain shows, we have created a special forum dedicated to spoilers (such as the "Survivor Spoilers Forum"). For those shows with a spoilers forum, please limit discussion of spoilers to that forum and do not post spoilers, or links to spoilers, in other forums. For those shows without a dedicated spoilers forum, we ask that you clearly indicate in the subject line of your post that the topic contains spoiler information and ensure that no spoiler content is revealed within the first 200 characters of your message body (since this text may also appear on the forum's topic listing page.)

XII. THE OFF-TOPIC FORUM
The Off-Topic covers a broad subject area and may include topics that don't interest every poster. Serious posts, political posts, absurd posts, lunch threads, DAW celebrations, sports posts: it all fits. If a thread does not interest you, then don't read the thread. If you find yourself offended by the views of a particular poster and you can't control your emotions enough to post a civil response, then don't read that person's posts. If a thread isn't relevant to you, then move on to another one or start one of your own. Do not attempt to enforce YOUR standards on the community. Do not think you have the right to censor others. If you think someone is violating the guidelines of the forums, report it to the moderators and let them handle it. And please, DO NOT claim to have been victimized -- after all, this site started as SURVIVOR BLOWS -- how serious can we be?

XIII. RESPECT THE MODERATORS, THEIR ROLE, AND THEIR DECISIONS

Please remember that moderators are people too -- people who generously volunteer THEIR TIME to manage a community FOR YOUR USE. They also have personal lives and feelings. While they are very generous in volunteering their time, do not presume that a moderator will always be immediately available to respond to your issue. Do not take a lack of response or action on their part as grounds to take you own "vigilante moderation" action. "Vigilante moderation" will not be tolerated and will possibly result in the termination of your RealityTVWorld.com membership. While disagreeing with the actions or decision of the moderator team is permitted, respecting their decision is required and repeated open questioning or badgering of their decision is not permitted.

XIV. OUR RIGHTS
(a) RealityTVWorld.com reserves the right to move or simply to delete a post which does not relate to the topic being discussed in the forum. In addition, RealityTVWorld.com reserves the right to organize and reorganize discussion forums in order to best serve the majority of our members.

(b) We know that your efforts are the main reason that people visit this site and that your posts are filled with your creativity and your knowledge. Therefore, we reserve the right to republish some of your message board postings (such as episode summaries) in a form that permits a wider dissemination. When republishing your words and graphics, we will identify you only by your RealityTVWorld.com member name, and we will not republish anything that we think could be deemed inflammatory, endangering or embarrassing to you without your consent.

(c) RealityTVWorld.com reserves the right to prohibit or delete discussions that are thought to violate applicable law or that we may consider harmful to other members, to the sites that comprise RealityTVWorld.com, or to the rights of RealityTVWorld.com or others. Having said that, RealityTVWorld.com does not have the practical ability to restrict conduct or communications that might violate these guidelines, nor can we ensure prompt removal of offending discussion forum posts. Please utilize this community at your own risk.

(d) We realize that everyone can make a mistake, and we generally do not revoke user privileges for one inadvertent violation of the standards of this site. However, we consider some violations to be so egregious or so serious that one offense will be enough to cause your membership to be revoked immediately. In addition, RealityTVWorld.com reserves the right to terminate your membership at its sole discretion without prior notification and for any reason.

(e) These guidelines are not comprehensive and constitute only a portion of the standards applicable to membership in the RealityTVWorld.com community. In addition, we reserve the right to modify these guidelines or to change or terminate the community at any time without notice.
